Certification, what is it good for? Well it’s not unlike Sylvester Stallone’s famous quote in “The Tulsa King” on the subject of college degrees.
The whole point of a college degree is to show a potential employer that you showed up someplace four years in a row, completed a series of tasks reasonably well, and on time. So if he hires you, there’s a semi-decent chance that you’ll show up there every day and not f his business up”
Same goes for Ivanti and any other product/service. Not unlike a driver’s license.
Does it make you a master of the Ivanti domain? No.
Does it make you a consultant? No.
Does it give you credibility? Sure.
Just like a college degree, and any formal education, Ivanti Certification is nice but really doesn’t prove much other than “completed a series of tasks reasonably well, and on time” and can grasp basic Ivanti Neurons for ITSM/ITAM concepts. Sure if you’re a junior consultant, or a new hire, that’s an accomplishment. No Doubt about it.
However what Ivanti Certification does not teach you:

- Structured Implementation Approach
- Thinking outside of the box
- Common operational challenges
- Common development and design challenges
- Advanced architecture & design based on experience
- Advanced implementation strategies based on experience
- Advanced workflow configurations and considerations based on experience
I could go on and on but it all comes down to Experience, Experience, Experience!

- a newly elected politician isn’t entrusted with presidential duties
